L'ÎLE EN SOI

Irina Prieto Botella, Maison George Sand, March 2023

Passionate about the islands from which she draws her philosophical teachings on territorial and human mapping, musician and composer Irina Prieto Botella translates her experience of shared intimacy through a binaural sound installation within the walls of a symbolic monument of the French Revolution, a symbol of confinement and isolation among individuals. Based on island sound recordings and the memory of the works of the late composer Julien Gauthier, L’Île en soi offers visitors a poetic interactive journey where solitude and freedom are revealed in the infinity of a defined space.
